Among You Secret Children is my debut work, a book in three parts that complete a single story. Much of it was written before I visited the Balkan areas where I pictured the latter parts taking place, so on staying there, I was bemused by what matched, and what did not. Perhaps I was a little delirious at the time:
Once I saw Jaala, selling paintings; another time Radjík on a bus. There were goats living in a shed in the yard next door; I watched them daily. A hearty character no longer in the books, but who was back then, greeted me in the name of a bookshop...
